The Maine A.T. Land Trust’s Community Hikes program provides free guided hiking trips to the general public from May to October and then from January to March. There are typically two to three hikes per month (depending on weather) and trips are guided by trained trip leaders. The program has been enormously successful at bringing individuals to the A.T. landscape but they can fill up quickly! The limit for participants is usually 5-8 individuals. If a hike you would like to attend is currently filled up, please email us at info@matlt.org to get on the waiting list. Summer hikes will be listed in May, winter hikes will be listed in December, so check back if you don’t see any!

Table Rock Hike

…and we’re back! Our Next Century Hikes program is gearing up for the winter season with a warmup hike to Table Rock in Grafton Notch. We will meet in the parking area in Grafton Notch at 10am. Pack a lunch to eat on top!
Table Rock overlooks Route 26 as it winds north through Grafton Notch in Newry, Maine. While the terrain is fairly moderate, it is steep near the end and the rock itself is exposed. The views are spectacular if the weather is nice! We will be taking the blue-blazed official Appalachian Trail side trail from the A.T., which is an up-and-back 2.6 mile hike. The trailhead is very easy to find and there is plenty of parking in the A.T. lot directly on Route 26. We will meet in this parking lot. Remember, you must RSVP for this hike by using this events page or contacting us (info@matlt.org or 207-808-2073). Snowshoes and/or ice traction aids will probably be required.
