Comtois Easement
• Conservation easement given to Maine A.T. Land Trust by a private landowner who wants his property to remain forever wild.
• 42 acres of land bordering the eastern side of the Appalachian Trail near Flagstaff Lake.
• No public access, but the protected property helps to maintain the wild and scenic character of the Appalachian Trail by acting as a buffer to incompatible development.
Longley Easement
- 17 acres of land along the Kennebec River just east of the Appalachian Trail ferry crossing
- forever wild area along the A.T. corridor
- easement was a donation from the Maine Appalachian Trail Club, given in order to protect land formerly owned by the late, great Stephen Longley – the original A.T. “Ferryman”
