Approaching the summit.

The Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust strongly believes in connecting with people of all backgrounds and ages in an effort to increase awareness of Maine’s A.T. lands.  This was the inspiration for our Appalachian Trail Maine: Next Century Hikes program.  This means:

  • Holding one event per month on trail and one event per month off the trail;
  • Ensuring all events are free and are generally available to the public (exception: schools)
  • Past hiking groups have included: Western Maine Audubon Chapter, Western Maine Hikers, Colby College Outing Club
  • Past speaking events: Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, East End Community School (Portland), Portland Greendrinks, Rangeley Trail Town Festival

The Appalachian Trail in Maine is the most renowned portion of a treasured national trail.  It is important that Mainers know about these lands just as much as they know about Acadia, Baxter State Park or the Presidential Range.  Come out and join us
