GULF HAGAS – WHITECAP

  • Forest Society of Maine project of approximately 14,000 acres
  • Maine A.T. Land Trust may hold property interest along A.T. corridor 
  • Project encompasses sustainably managed forest, high elevation lands adjacent to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and the watersheds of three major tributaries that flow into the West Branch of the Pleasant River.

  • 10,000-acre working forest north of the US Navy SERE Facility
  • Contains high-elevation wildlife habitat
  • Eco-reserve area
  • Beautiful mountain streams provide drainage
  • Motorized and non-motorized trails (hiking, XC skiing, ATV, snowmobile)
  • Valuable buffering of the Appalachian Trail corridor in one of the highlight areas of Maine’s A.T.
